W House Of Fashion

I had this post on ‘hold’ for a couple of weeks... the reason was because I hadn’t had the time to seat and write it properly, plus I was in doubt about the ‘meeting points’ I will talk about. Probably like a month ago, I told you I was invited by the W Hotel Mexico to a congress called ‘ W House of Fashion Day’. They invited me to an ‘blogger panel’ with fellow friends and bloggers: Paty from Guapología, Ángeles from Boticapop, Ceci y Ebani from Coolhunter México, Julie from Now Fashionista and Ximena from Urvanity. The idea of the session was to ‘debate’ about the rol of being a blogger, pros and cons, talk about the brands and our relationship with them, the future of blogging, etc. 

Although at the panel, all of us write a blog, each one is different and it’s oriented to different publics and talks about different subjects so, it was quite enriching and enjoyable. Must of them even started their 'blogs' before me and I respect and admire them deeply.

Now, it’s time to give my own (very personal) conclusion about the 'subject', I believe I have never talk about the whole theme and it is time. I started blogging as a ‘hobby’ and to open a very personal communication channel that went beyond my friends and family. Nevertheless, this blog has become part of my personal and professional daily activities. The blog has grown with me and I have grown with the blog. I have a degree in Marketing and I am specialized in fashion styling and personal image. High on Fashion started as a complement of my professional life as an entrepenur, a fashion stylist and an image consultant, it was conceived to show a sneak peek of my daily life, my passions and my work. I believe a blog must always show the personal essence of the creator, it’s an ‘organic and natural’ way of expression that shows and gives personal and honest opinions. The beauty of a blog is that you can write and post about anything that catches your attention, it's open and it has 'no restrictions'.

On the other hand, I will admit that my blog has changed my life, it has given me the opportunity to build a ‘showcase’ of my work as a fashion stylist and passionate from the subject but it also has given me the opportunity to live experiences I have never imagine. 

I can’t leave aside the 'brand' subject; of course it is evident and at a certain point even ‘natural’ the aliances you can build with brands: it about a sense of belonging. They identify with you and you identify with them. I will speak only for me and honestly say that most of the ‘alliances’ you have seen on the blog have came to me in a natural way, they like me and I like them. On High On Fashion you will never see a brand I don’t like or a brand that I don’t identify with. Must of the brands that I use or write about on the blog I used them even before starting with this project and they totally and truly match with me and my lifestyle. High on Fashion and Gina Ortega are the same person, if you find me on the street I will be wearing the shoes I twitted on the morning, I do wear heels on Sundays and I do use and 'taste' all the products I talk about. I’m not an expert in the cosmetic field, neither a model; I believe that being coherent is essential to be reliable, to be honest with yourself and with others: to be true to you, even if it bothers people. I am a perfectionist by nature and who knows me in person knows I’m hyperactive and workaholic, I’m very detail oriented and I seek for quality in every aspect of my life, as well as a continuos personal and professional growth... I’m always learning. For me, to deliver a work with quality is your best ‘cover letter’. Mi blog is a reflection of what I am and what I seek in life. To work in what you like is the best reward you can have, it ‘simply’ makes you happy. Each and every post you have seen on the -almost- three years of High On Fashion (on february 2014) has been written and prepared by me, I take all the pictures (except the ones I’m on, of course.. and even then I choose the places and shoots to take), I manage my twitter account and all the other web communities I’m on. High On Fashion makes me happy and I will be here as long as it remains this way. I’m a ‘normal’ girl (I quoted normal because I believe I have multiple personalities... hahaha but I don’t mind, it keeps me busy) with virtues and flaws, I make mistakes and I tend to get it right sometimes too.

Thanks for visiting the blog, for reading me, for your comments, your mails, your suggestions and messages, for your love and support, for trusting in me and care for me and ‘my issues’. If I have grown along with the blog it heavily depends on you and your loyalty, so thanks for that.

Tuve este post en el 'tintero' por varias semanas, retrasé su publicación por varias cuestiones... una era por falta de tiempo para sentarme a escribir dignamente y otra porque sinceramente no sabía qué enfoque darle. Hace un par de semanas, les platiqué que me invitaron al congreso organizado por el Hotel W llamado ‘W House of Fashion Day’. Formé parte de un panel de bloggers en donde la intención era ‘debatir’ el ‘oficio blogger’ sus pros, sus contras, las alianzas con las marcas, su futuro, etc. Compartí el espacio con grandes (y queridos amigos) colegas como Paty de Guapología, Ángeles de Boticapop, Ceci y Ebani de Coolhunter México, Julie de Now Fashionista y Ximena de Urvanity. 

Fue entretenido compartir distintos puntos de vista, y aunque todos los presentes tenemos blogs cada uno es distinto y está enfocado a públicos y temas diversos, por lo que me pareció que el grupo era muy interesante y variado. Muchos de ellos comenzaron sus 'blogs' mucho antes que yo, y a todos los respeto y admiro profundamente porque se el trabajo y esmero que requiere.

Seré sincera y hablaré únicamente desde mi muy humilde punto de vista (a manera de conclusión de los sucedido ese día)... creo que nunca he hablado como tal del tema y ahora más que nunca se justifica. Yo, si bien comencé este blog como un pasatiempo y para de cierta manera ‘abrir’ un canal de comunicación más allá de mi círculo social cercano, es cierto que hoy se ha convertido en parte de mis actividades diarias y profesionales. El blog ha crecido conmigo y yo con él. Yo soy Licenciada en Mercadotecnía, tengo especialidades en fashion styling y asesoría de imagen, me he dedicado al estilismo de moda por ya casi cuatro años y el blog nació como complemento de mi vida como coordinadora de moda, asesora de imagen y empresaria, un poco para mostrar cómo es mi vida, mis usos, costumbres y pasiones. Soy fiel creyente de que un blog siempre debe guardar la esencia de quien lo concibe y que es una manera orgánica y ‘natural’ de expresión y opinión personal.  En blogs se rompen gustos y géneros y eso, eso es lo bonito de este medio: el tener la capacidad de escribir y de postear lo que te plazca ‘sin compromisos’. 

Por otro lado, debo reconocer que el blog me ha cambiado la vida, no solo me ha dado un escaparate grande para mostrar mi trabajo como estilista de moda y apasionada de la misma sino que me ha abierto las puertas para vivir experiencias que ni yo misma me imaginé. 

No podemos dejar de lado a las marcas, y sí, por supuesto que es evidente y hasta cierto punto ‘natural’ las alianzas que se pueden llegar a formar: por un sentido de identificación de ambas partes o por razones comerciales. En mi caso -la mayoría- han sido de una manera muy natural y sin yo siquiera buscarlas... yo me indentifico con ellas y viceversa. Sin embargo y hablando nuevamente desde mi perspectiva les digo que yo en mi blog jamás hablaré de una marca o producto con el que no me sienta identificada y que no vaya con mi personalidad y mi estilo de vida. High On Fashion es igual a Gina Ortega y viceversa, si me encuentran en la calle llevaré los zapatos que subí a twitter por la mañana, uso tacones los domingos, los productos de los que hablo son los productos que uso en mi vida cotidiana y muchos de ellos los he usado mucho antes de empezar con este proyecto, no soy experta cosmetóloga, ni mucho menos modelo; creo que la coherencia es la parte medular de la confiabilidad, ser honesta contigo misma y con los demás: ser tu, aunque -a muchos- les incomode. Soy una perfeccionista empedernida y quien me conoce en persona sabe que soy workaholic por naturaleza, hiperactiva y que estoy obsesionada con los detalles, busco la calidad ante todo, y el crecimiento personal y profesional continuo... nunca dejar de aprender. Para mí, entregar un trabajo de calidad es mi mejor carta de presentación. Mi blog es un reflejo de lo que soy y lo que busco... de lo que quiero lograr. Siempre lo he dicho y hoy lo sostengo más que nunca: hacer lo que te apasiona y dedicar tus días a ello trae consigo una felicidad que no se encuentra en ningún otro lado. Cada uno de los posts (en los casi tres años de High On Fashion, en febrero los cumple) los he escrito y 'armado' yo, las fotos las tomo yo, excepto en las que salgo con mis atuendos por supuesto (y aun en esas yo decido la locación y las tomas, encuadres, etc), todas y cada una de mis redes sociales las manejo yo. High On Fashion me hace feliz y aquí estaré mientras así siga siendo. Soy una mujer 'normal' (y pongo normal entre comillas porque creo que tengo personalidades múltiples jajaja... pero está bien, así no me aburro) con cualidades y defectos, que comete errores y aciertos, que sufre y que la pasa bien.

Gracias por leerme siempre, por visitarme, por comentar, por sus correos, por sus sugerencias y mensajes, por su apoyo y cariño, por confiar en mi y por estar al pendiente. Si este blog y yo hemos crecido es en gran parte gracias a ustedes y a su fidelidad.
