Shoe Of The Week: Zara Snake Print Sandals

In this post, I wanted to show you my new Zara sandals. Surprisingly they are very comfortable, I liked the color combination, it’s different but at the same time accurate and wearable. You can match them with a nice dress or a pair of jeans and a basic t shirt. 

I think I liked them because they are similiar to some of the shoes I saw on the Diane Von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, Givenchy, Chloé, Jimmy Choo and Reed Krakoff SS12 runways.

Zara, as we all know has the incredible ability - from season to season- to clone and reproduce must (ok, all) of the trendiest pieces from the top designers. It’s really amazing the skill this emporium has to re create the trends and sell them (as water in the dessert) at “accessible” prices all around the world. It’s difficult to visit one of these stores and leave empty handed (at least I can’t); the displays are really attractive and you always “manage to find” something for your wardrobe that you were “looking for”. For me, this ability is their strongest and yet their weakest point. It’s their strength because somehow is the essence of their business: they manage to offer a large variety of trendy pieces (or basics) at significantly lower prices than the high fashion international brands do; Also their weakness, because we all know that most of their clothing are re creations of other designers and it’s frequent to attend an event or gathering and find someone else wearing the same piece of clothing as you are due to the accessibility the brand offers. The quality of their garments is poor (except for some of their coats) because they were conceived to serve for a short period of time, only while that specific trend lasts. 

We all have at least one piece of clothing from Zara, of course all the above also applies to bags, shoes and accessories.  Buying a trendy pair of shoes in Zara is significantly cheaper compared to buying a pair from an international designer ( only like 13 times cheaper, only). Usually -as I said before- their shoes are not very comfortable and it’s easy to lose a heel or worn them out really fast, but their price it’s so attractive and their looks so appealing that it’s easy to fall into temptation. 

En este post, quería enseñarles mis nuevas sandalias de Zara. Sorpresivamente son muy cómodas, me gustaron mucho porque el juego de colores es diferente pero al mismo tiempo acertado y combinable. Van bien con un vestido o con unos jeans y una t shirt. Creo que me gustaron tanto porque me recuerdan a uno que otro modelo de las colecciones SS 2012 de Diane Von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, Givenchy, Chloé, Jimmy Choo y Reed Krakoff.

Zara, como todos sabemos tiene la increíble habilidad de clonar y reproducir todas las prendas it de los grandes diseñadores temporada tras temporada. Es asombrosa la maestría que tiene este emporio para re crear las tendencias -y no solo eso- sino que además las vende como pan caliente a precios “accesibles” alrededor del mundo (su cadena de suministro y logística es de admirar). Es difícil entrar a una de estas tiendas y salir con las manos vacías (al menos a mi me cuesta mucho trabajo) los displays son muy atractivos y siempre encuentras ESA prenda o accesorio que le hacia “falta” a tu guardarropa. Para mi, esta habilidad es su punto más fuerte y al mismo tiempo el más débil. El más fuerte porque de ahí su exitoso negocio, ya que logran ofrecer una gama amplia de productos que son modernos (o básicos) a un precio mucho menor que el de una tienda de firma internacional. Es su punto más débil también, porque todos sabemos que son plagios y eso ya de por sí resta puntos, ademas es común ir a un evento y encontrar a otra (u otras) personas usando la misma prenda por la misma accesibilidad que la marca ofrece. La calidad de sus prendas es otro tema: son totalmente desechables (excepto por algunos abrigos), fueron creadas única y exclusivamente para servir por un periodo corto de tiempo en lo que esa determinada tendencia pasa a mejor vida.  

Todos tenemos mínimo una prenda de Zara y bueno, todo lo antes mencionado también aplica para zapatos, bolsos y accesorios. Puedes comprar unos zapatos muy parecidos a los de diseñador que oscilan entre los 500 y 1000 dólares en 500 y hasta 1000 pesos (¡casi trece veces más baratos!). Normalmente las hormas no son muy cómodas y los zapatos se desgastan rápidamente, pero su precio y diseño son tan atractivos que es fácil dejarse llevar y caer en la tentación.
